This week, we celebrated our students who received Norfolk Scholar status and iCWA Excel awards for the 2016/17
academic year.
Norfolk Scholar status is an honorary award created by County Council, which recognises outstanding performance by students who are studying A-levels or a level 3 vocational course. In the last academic year, 235 CWA students earned the accolade – the highest number in the county! Excel is part of the college’s iCWA study programme, and the award celebrates high achievement among GCSE and level 2 learners.
iCWA is a commitment by the college to develop students to be employment-ready, equipping them with the appropriate skills for their chosen workplace. A number of local and national employers including Adrian Flux, Anglian Water and Ben Burgess, support the programme.
A celebration event was held in the King’s Lynn social hub and the evening featured motivational speaker Jermain
Jackman. Best known as a former winner of The Voice UK, Jermain is also an ambassador for the National Citizen Service – a UK skills development and enrichment programme that is available to students through CWA.

Director of attainment and student experience Andrew Gedge said: “The evening recognised the fantastic academic efforts of our 2016/17 students. Their achievements are a positive reflection on teaching within college, and show that CWA has not only students who excel practically within apprenticeships, but also has students who achieve some of the highest grades possible within GCSE, A-level and vocational programmes.”
