Interest in girls-only rugby
CWA held their first sports week at Lynnsport and Kings Lynn campus of the College of West Anglia with all students invited to take part in a variety of different activities throughout the week including tennis, gymnastics, cardio tennis, golf, football and many others.
Now, to meet demand, the campus is to look at the possibility of organising girls-only rugby.
More than 300 students participated in these activities with many asking the college’s sports development co-ordinator Sara Edwards or the coaches if they could participate in the activities on a weekly basis.
As well as taking part in sport, local sports organisations set up shop in the refectory and informally spoke to more than 200 students about how and where they could play sport within West Norfolk.
Students were also able to play table tennis and mini tennis in the refectory.
Sara said: “It was great to see so many students talking to the organisations and asking them different questions about getting involved in.
“To understand what the students want to participate in at college they were able to sign up to college activities.
“Over 20 students expressed an interest in playing girls-only rugby because of this we are currently in the process of organising a girls only rugby session.”
