Log run resounding success
More than 120 students from the uniformed services courses run by the College of West Anglia turned out to be a resounding success on Tuesday.
For the first time the college used a mile-long course created within Wootton Woods, which saw 12 teams of eight students carry a hefty log together.
It united students from uniformed services courses at King’s Lynn, Isle (Wisbech) and Cambridge (Milton).
Those students not carrying the log still took part, supporting and encouraging members of their teams, created from the three campuses according to varying abilities, year group and the course they were attending.
Making sure they set an example, lecturers, many with Forces backgrounds, also ran the course through the woods and sand.
Among them was lecturer and event organiser Stuart Harrowing, who completed the circuit 12 times.
He said: “The event was a resounding success. It brought together the students, developed their camaraderie, teamwork and enthusiasm.”
Results will be revealed later in the year at a uniformed services awards event.
Stuart explained: “This is one of the major events in our academic year, organised to give our students not only a physical challenge but also the experience they can use to develop leadership, communication, determination, build team cohesion, and a sense of achievement.”
