Media make-up students grab awards
FOUR students from the College of West Anglia travelled more than 100 miles and returned with two first prizes and two seconds for their make-up skills which could take them to the finals of the WorldSkills competition at the NEC in Birmingham.
They had to go to Wakefield College in Yorkshire for the UK Skills regional heat and will know next month if their scores will take them to the NEC.
And completing the successes of the College of West Anglia was a student from its Isle campus who came third in beauty therapy .
In the advanced media make-up body paint section, Rebecca Youngs, with Charlie Blakely as her model, and Michelle Brett, with husband Andrew as model, both did exceptionally well.
Rebecca gained first place, with Michelle second.
Their results were repeated by the two King’s Lynn students who competed in fashion make-up.
Jemma Bywater-Seekings, with Caitlin Toller as model, came first; Maddie Holland, with Holly Hudson as model, were second.
Theme for the event was “Out of the Shadows.”
With the Lynn students were media make-up lecturer Tracey Gaines while the students from the Isle campus at Wisbech were headed by Julie Constable.
Their teams faced opposition from Sheffield, Pontefract, Grimsby, Castleford, Halifax, Wakefield and other towns.
