New Director of Veterinary Nursing
Long-serving Ali Santos has been appointed to the new position of Director of Veterinary Nursing at the Cambridge campus of the College of West Anglia.
She has the responsibility of the quality assurance of the veterinary nursing provision across all areas from animal nursing assistant to the BSc Hons degree.
Ali also has the responsibility to ensure that students are placed into appropriate practices for their training and liaising with the different Awarding Bodies that the campus at Milton uses for veterinary nursing.
Ali started working for the college in March 2006.
When she began the campus had seven veterinary practices that it looked after and 12 nursing students.
She was employed to increase both practice and students numbers so it could run the degree successfully.
It now works with more than 50 veterinary practices and this figure increases year upon year.
There are now more than 100 students who study veterinary nursing at the Cambridge campus, and this figure is also increasing.
She also does quite a lot with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and works in a veterinary practice one day a week too.
