Sam misses out in cookery contest
Sam Jordan, a hospitality student at the College of West Anglia in King’s Lynn, narrowly missed out on another competition win when he took part in an event, held in London on Saturday.
He took part in the event at the regional final of a Rotary Club-organised event at Westminster Kingsway College, which would have taken him to the national final in Dundee next month.
But even so Sam, 17, from Wisbech, said: “It was good experience for me.”
On Saturday he still produced a superb meal
Starter was pea soup, with pan-fried bream and poached quail egg; main was Peking duck breast with a salsa, with a dessert of poached peach and Zabaglione (an Italian custard).
He was given two hours to cook the three-course meal.
Having previously won through two heats at King’s Lynn, he won the district final of the Rotary Young Chef competition at Suffolk One College in Ipswich the previous weekend, beating six other young chefs.
Sam is in his second year of a Level 2 Professional Cookery Course.
