Students create website for Mencap
Supporters of the local branch of the Mencap charity knew where to turn to when they needed to have a new website created.
They approached the College of West Anglia where computer lecturer Dan Purdy soon got students working on the task.
It was an ideal task as one of the things they have to undertake during their studies is an additional activity and project development for a client.
Involved were five B Tec Level 3 computer students who carried out a whole revamp of Mencap’s website for people with learning disabilities.
The five involved were Aleasha Fox, Charlie Walton, Billy Hadlow, Darren Griffin and Matthew Phillips.
Lecturer Dan Purdy said the students had gained experience and skills at working with a client.
The new Mencap website was launched on Tuesday (June 17) when its chairman Peter Brown, accompanied by his wife Marie, who is vice-chairman, visited the campus.
Mr Brown said: “We were absolutely delighted and impressed.
“The students did a first class job in creating our website. It was heart-warming.”
