Students get insight into Police Commissioner’s role
Students at the College of West Anglia were given an insight into the role of Norfolk’s Police Commissioner.
A recent visit from Norfolk Police Commissioner Steve Bett provided an insightful question and answer opportunity on the ever-increasing role that the post has and the position of policing in Norfolk..
More than 20 Level 3 Emergency Services Academy students took the opportunity to question Mr Bett on the opportunities and challenges that they see for Norfolk.
Programme manager Mr Lee Mallott said: ‘This was a brilliant example of young people gaining access to key decision makers and understanding the constraints and challenges that they face while putting across ideas and opinions which hopefully will help shape the thinking of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
“We really would like to thank Mr Bett for the time he spent with us and that opportunity in understanding more about the work we do with 200 students on our Public Services courses.”
During his visit Mr Bett spent time looking around the recently-refurbished tower teaching block and the excellent teaching resources.
He was told about the activities that the college students undertake in terms of security training, armed and emergency service training and the National Citizen Service programme for Norfolk that the college takes a lead role on.
