16pt_cwa_marines_26 Uniformed service students at CWA Wisbech were given the chance to see if they were up to standard, when they were put through their paces by the Royal Marine Visibility Team, on Thursday 29 September. The Corps Colonel's Department is based at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines and is responsible for all Royal Marine Recruiting. 60 students attended interest lectures and talks with the visitors from Lympstone, in Devon, followed by a two hour physical training session in the grounds of the college on Ramnoth Road. Corporal Smith, from the visibility team, stressed the importance of young people knowing what they are signing up to. To become a Royal Marine, recruits go through 32 weeks of intense training to ‘be the best’. Corporal Smith added: “We really enjoy our job as it gives us a chance to give back. It helps us get more people interested in what we do and is a great recruitment tool for the Marines. The students show us a lot of respect and this really is one of the best ways to give them an insight into what we expect.” Lee Mallott, programme manager for uniformed services, said: “These sorts of opportunities to meet face-to-face with those already in the forces is vital for inspiring our young people to follow their career dreams. After the physical training session and inspirational talks from the Marine Visibility team, we now have many more students setting their sights on a life in the Royal Navy, specifically with the Royal Marines.”   [gallery grids="News" image_size="large" size="medium" tiles="true" ids="11191,11192,11193,11190,11194,11195"]
