For some of our courses, it is necessary to purchase relevant equipment or clothing (e.g. protective clothing), whilst for some others, we offer optional college-branded clothing.
The kit lists below will give you information about what equipment is essential for your course and may also offer optional equipment. The majority of our equipment and uniform can be purchased at our online store, but please check the kit list for your course below first, as some equipment and uniform will only be available from the original supplier.
Equipment and Kit Lists
All of the following information if for the 2020/2021 academic year (i.e. courses which started in September 2020).
If you are starting your course in September 2021, you can use the kits listed below to give you an idea on what you might be asked to purchase before your course starts and the costs involved. Please do not buy anything yet - we'll contact you in the summer once your kit and equipment list is confirmed.
Important information for 19+ students
If you are a fully-funded student (i.e. you do not have to pay any fees for your course) or are planning on obtaining an Advanced Learner Loan to cover your course fees then any equipment or uniform which is considered essential to you completing your course will be provided you by the faculty team. If this is the case for you, please do not purchase any kit, equipment or uniform prior to your course. You can find more information on adult learning fees here. If you do not meet the above criteria, you may be entitled to financial help to help you with kit, equipment and uniform costs.
Financial Help
The college operates a financial support scheme which can help students whose financial circumstances make it difficult for them to meet the costs associated with study; find out more information here. Once you have purchased your equipment and have been awarded funds from financial support, please provide us with a receipt of your purchase and we will refund you in the first term of the course. If the cost of your kit, uniform and equipment is above £100 and you have already been awarded financial support, we may be able to order it for you; your award letter (confirmation of your financial support application being approved) will contain further details. Please note that we are only able to refund or purchase kit, equipment or uniform which is considered essential to you completing your qualification.

Health and Social Care, Childhood Studies & Nursing and Paramedic
All equipment and clothing can be purchased via the online store; please select your campus and chosen course from the options available.
Students are advised not to purchase any equipment for these courses over the summer. Placements start after October half-term and we would suggest waiting a few weeks into the term, to make sure you are certain that you are on the right course. Each course has a different colour kit, and is also named according to the subject area. However, if you think you may be entitled to financial help towards the cost of the kit (and your DBS check, travel costs etc.), then you should apply for that over the summer as funding is allocated on a first come first served basis.
All course levels within care & early years will be required to complete a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check to enable them to access placement. This will be completed by the college and further details will be sent to you on your start letter. The DBS check costs £50 and payment should be made after the start of your course but before the end of September to ensure that you are able to start your placement after October half-term. Your work placement and careers coordinator will give you more information about this during induction.
