College apprentice, Alex Goodman, has been honoured at the annual Mayor’s Business Awards, winning Apprentice/Trainee of the Year Award sponsored by Carter Accommodation.
More than 250 guests attended the sold-out awards ceremony, which was hosted in association with the Lynn News, at Lynn’s Corn Exchange on Friday night in the awards’ 30th year.
Mayor Nick Daubney, said it was “a very proud moment” to address the awards his father, Les, had established in 1989 during his mayoral term as the borough’s current civic head.
He said: “So very much has changed in that time but what remains is the sheer level of ambition, drive, innovation and determination demonstrated by the businesses of West Norfolk.

“The environment you create, the jobs you create, the opportunities you give us all as a community, everyone here and everyone who enters these awards need to be very proud indeed.”
Alex attends the college where he is studying towards a raft of C&G qualifications alongside working at the Dodd Group Ltd, where he has recently been named as the Dodd Group Electrical Apprentice of the Year 2018.
Alex’s on-the-job training is taking place on challenging industrial and utility sites with significant health, safety and environmental risks and responsibilities.

“All participating tutors who work with Alex have found him to be a truly inspiring apprentice who is producing an excellent standard of practical formation of electrical enclosure systems and is meticulous in the glanding of cabling systems. Written work is showing that Alex has the potential to gain great results in the forthcoming future assignments and all exam elements of the qualification.”
