College of West Anglia (CWA) Hair and Beauty apprentice Ashleigh Everett has made it through to the finals of the National Apprenticeship Awards after winning Intermediate Apprentice of the Year at the East of England Apprenticeship Awards.
Ashleigh, 20, from Hunstanton, works at Boldero & Filby hair salon in King’s Lynn. In October, she was presented with the regional apprentice award at a gala dinner at Newmarket racecourse.
The National Apprenticeship Awards recognise the achievements of apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplace. As a finalist, Ashleigh will attend the national ceremony, which is to be held at Grosvenor House, London, at the end of January next year.
Speaking after she won the regional award, Ashleigh said: “I am absolutely delighted and so proud to win the regional award, not just for my personal and professional development, but also for the College of West Anglia. I think it shows just how good apprenticeships are for young people. I have already had an increase in bookings and I’m hoping to help others realise their potential by being an ambassador for apprenticeships at CWA. This is my latest challenge.”
Kay Daniels, lecturer in hairdressing at CWA King’s Lynn, said: “We are all very proud of Ashleigh. She has a worked extremely hard all year, winning in-house competitions, student of the year for hair and beauty at the CWA Student Awards in July, and now she is up for this amazing award."
