[caption id="attachment_3130" align="aligncenter" width="300"] NCS project manager Andrew Gedge with Programme Manager Lee Mallott with the college's NCS award[/caption] The College of West Anglia and Downham Market Academy have been recognised for encouraging their students to get involved with the National Citizen Service (NCS) in 2014. Andrew Gedge, NCS project manager at CWA, commented: "2014 was our most successful year to date and were delighted with the number of young people who have gotten involved with the programme.  NCS provides young people with the confidence and life-skills that will enhance their CVs and prepare them for the future and we plan for NCS 2015 to be even better." The programmes happen regularly in school holidays, week long programmes happen  in Easter and October ½ term but in the summer holidays the programme is extended to 2 weeks to let the young people really make the most the experience of a week at the Mepal outdoor centre taking part in activities such as canoeing, climbing and other team building activities and a week residential at CITB in the week afterwards with the days spent understanding their community and building employability skills and a social action project that gives participants a chance to give back to their community.  It costs only £50 to join and food and accommodation are included for the duration of the 2 weeks.
