Bridge to Art and Design students from the College of West Anglia recently had the incredible opportunity to visit the prestigious Sainsbury Centre in Norwich, where they participated in a specialized studio workshop centered on the work of Francis Bacon, one of the most influential painters of the 20th Century.
The visit allowed students to explore Bacon’s intense, evocative style and themes in-depth. The students directly engaged with his work during a workshop with artist, Ian Brownlie, to create drawings and paintings based on one of the themes of Francis Bacon’s work namely, screaming chimps.

Course Director, Garry Hobbs, said, “It was wonderful to see all the students fully embrace the potential of the workshop, and they all produced lively and thought-provoking work.
