Important update regarding BTEC Level 1, 2 and 3 results
We were informed by Pearson, the awarding body for BTEC qualifications, late on 19th August that they are reviewing the grades being awarded to all BTEC students. Following Ofqual’s announcement that A-Level and GCSE students are to receive Centre Assessed Grades, Pearson have reviewed the impact on BTEC students and have decided to apply this same principle to students receiving BTECs this summer.
Although Pearson had generally accepted Centre Assessment Grades for internal (i.e. coursework) units, they subsequently calculated the grades for the examined units using historical performance data. They will now review these calculated grades and apply consistency across teacher-assessed internal grades and examined grades that students were unable to sit. We have been advised that these grades will be issued as soon as possible but we are unable to say when this will be at this stage.
We have been assured that no Centre Assessed Grades will be downgraded.
Information for BTEC Level 3 students
The grades you received last week are now being reviewed by Pearson. No grades will be lowered but some may be raised as a result of this process. We will post the final confirmed grades on the Student Portal as soon as we receive them and will post any updates on our website and social media channels.
Information for BTEC Level 1 and Level 2 students
We have been instructed by Pearson not to release any grades to students until this matter has been resolved. We appreciate you were expecting your grades on Thursday 20th August and that this may cause uncertainty for you. We are working hard on your behalf to ensure final confirmed grades are provided to you as soon as possible via the Student Portal. We will post updates on our website and social media channels as details become available.
