Sophia France, a representative from Cancer Research UK, recently visited our Level 2 Early Years students to give a talk about the charity’s work and the importance of cancer awareness. The session covered the key symptoms to watch for and emphasised the role of early detection in fighting cancer.
The speaker also provided an overview of Cancer Research UK’s efforts in research and treatment, giving students valuable insights into the work being done to combat the disease. This visit aimed to educate and raise awareness about cancer, equipping students with important knowledge they can share within their communities.
Early Years Lecturer, Jasvir Hegarty, explained, “As part of our Employment, Enrichment and Pastoral Programme, our students voted on charities they would like their course cohorts to support, and the student voice was for Cancer Research. We thought it would be valuable for our learners to understand more about the aims and work of the charity they wished to support. This also linked well with the Childhood Cancer Awareness month in September”. -
