CWA Principal David Pomfret with winners of the Kevin Clarke Award, Ian and Tomas. Joined by Nick Goodchild of Edmondson Electrical, Alex Freeman of AP Freeman and Petula Harrington, sister of the late Kevin Clarke.
College of West Anglia (CWA) held an evening reception to celebrate the achievement of two students, who have been awarded the Kevin Clarke Memorial Trophy.
The award is presented to the electrical apprentices who have shown the highest level of personal achievement and development during the academic year. John and Janet Clarke sponsor the award each year, given in memory of their son, Kevin, a former CWA electrical apprentice who was sadly killed in a car accident in 1984.
The 2023 winners of the award are as follows:
Tomas Rawlings – Electrotechnical Installation and Maintenance apprentice at AP Freeman of Bolness Road, Wisbech.
Ian Price - Electrotechnical Installation and Maintenance apprentice at AP Freeman of Bolness Road, Wisbech.
Both are currently completing a 3-year apprenticeship at the CWA and have already shown significant promise as electricians of the future.
This year’s prize of an electrician’s tool kit was kindly donated by Edmundson Electrical and were presented by King’s Lynn branch manager, Nick Goodchild.
Tomas Rawlings collecting the Kevin Clarke Memorial Trophy.
Ian Price collecting the Kevin Clarke Memorial Trophy.
John Clarke said:
‘Janet and I would like to congratulate this year’s prize winners for all their hard work, well done. Thank you again to Edmundson Electrical for their continued support of the awards and for providing the tool kits as prizes to the award winners. Thank you to local contractors and CWA staff for organising the presentation evening and for the support that they show the Trust. Finally, we would like to say a thank you to our daughter Petula for representing us and presenting the Shield’s at the awards evening.’
CWA Principal David Pomfret said;
‘It is great that we have been able to award two CWA apprentices with the Kevin Clarke Memorial trophy. Our apprentices are really valued in the workplace, and I am proud to be celebrating the work that they do at this event. Congratulations to Ian and Tomas.’
In 2024, the Kevin Clarke Memorial Award will be 40. To mark the occasion, CWA will be inviting all past winners to an event next year.
