The College of West Anglia recently held its 4th annual Race for Life 5K event to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Over 400 CWA students and staff, from all campuses, united in the fight against cancer and took part in the event on the running track at CWA’s Sports campus, Alive Lynnsport. Participants walked or ran 12 laps of the track to hit the 5km target, with fellow supporters cheering everyone on. Each finisher received a medal.

CWA staff and students have so far raised more than £1,300, with donations still coming in.

Event organiser, Scott Leadley, Head of Faculty for Business, Humanities, Science & Computing said, “Thank you to everyone who came along on the day, either to take part or support the participants, and to everyone who has donated. CWA has raised just under £12,500 from our previous Race for Life events and this year’s total will add significantly to that.”

The Race for Life event was also the culmination of weeks of training for those taking part in CWA’s Couch to 5K course, an initiative for staff organised by Lucas Cooper, Admissions and Business Support Manager. Lucas said, “Staff have been training since January, with our goal being to complete Race for Life. Huge congratulations to our participants, who were all successful in reaching the finish line. Our next challenge will be to achieve 10K.”
