The awards ceremony was held at King’s Lynn Alive Corn Exchange and was jointly sponsored by Adrian Flux and the Borough Council of King’s Lynn.
Head of marketing and student services, Paul O’Shea, hosted the evening, which saw 10 out of 30 shortlisted students from all three of the college's campuses crowned as winners in a range of categories, from personal achievement to foundation studies and overall student of the year award.

Principal David Pomfret opened with a review of the academic year, speaking about cross-campus triumphs, success stories and achievements.
He said:
Given that our award winners were selected from our body of approximately 8,000 students, they should be very proud of their achievements. I’m extremely proud of and congratulate our students on their commitment, standard of work and achievements. I was delighted to see so many staff, governors, family, friends, employers and sponsors came to celebrate with our award winners, too.’

Guests listened to an inspirational speech from keynote speaker, Joshua Patterson, who formerly starred on the reality TV show Made in Chelsea. Joshua has recently broken a world record for completing the journey from John O’Groats to Land’s End by wheelchair, after his best friend, Ben Tansley, was involved in a motorcycle accident in 2017, which left him paralysed from the waist down. He completed the trip in just 19 days – the equivalent of roughly two marathons each day (38 in total).

College student, Paige Simonds, was announced as overall Student of the Year 2019, as well as winning the Personal Achievement category.
At the age of six, Paige went through a life changing experience when she became unwell and sadly lost her sight. Paige has just finished studying for a Teaching Assistant Level 3.

Paige’s lecturer, Sue Davis, who nominated her said:
“Paige has taught her class group, a level three childcare class, and staff members how to read braille, creating brilliant resources to help everyone learn, demonstrating confidence, resourcefulness and maturity beyond her years.
She is now looking towards securing employment in classroom support at the end of her course. The teaching team say it is a real pleasure to have Paige in the classroom and to see her strong determination and growing confidence.”
