On Friday 24th April, kind-hearted staff and students at the College of West Anglia (CWA) have come together to support their local community by fundraising for local foodbanks.

The college has joined the national ‘FE Foodbank Friday’ campaign, which is seeing FE organisations around the country coming together to raise money for community foodbanks. Many foodbanks are seeing a decline in donations at this challenging time and in need of support.

As the foodbank are unable to receive physical donations of food items, CWA are pledging their support for the nationwide initiative. The college aims to raise £1,000 for three local food banks, run by The Trussell Trust, across King’s Lynn, Wisbech and Cambridge.

CWA Principal, David Pomfret, said:

We are committed to supporting the most vulnerable in our local communities during the current crisis and are joining with Further Education colleges across the country in the FE Food Bank Friday initiative. We are asking anyone willing during this extremely tough period to consider donating what they can, to ensure that we all can pull through this crisis together.

We are living in extraordinary and difficult times and never before has it been more important to help one another. Good can come out of every crisis and that is certainly what we are seeing here at the College of West Anglia as we come together with other colleges across the country to support our local communities in need.”
