CWA apprentices’ amazing achievements were celebrated during an awards ceremony at King's Lynn Town Hall. Friends, family, employers and King’s Lynn mayor, Carol Bower, attended for the awards presentations alongside representatives from Anglian Water alliances, who generously sponsored the evening.

Director of employer engagement, Shaun Hindle, compered the evening and @onealliance head of engineering, Mark Froggatt, was the evening’s guest speaker.  Principal David Pomfret said: “I am delighted to be able to share the success of our apprentices. Last January, CWA was rated ‘Outstanding’ for apprenticeship provision and our award winners are a reflection on that, themselves being outstanding students and industry workers”.

Head of apprenticeships and work based learning Vicky Mann added: “Learning while working is extremely valuable in developing practical skills and it takes a great deal of commitment and drive from our apprentices to accomplish high levels of success. I am extremely proud of their efforts, so it has been wonderful to share their well-deserved achievements tonight.” In addition to the 18 Apprentice of the Year awards, two CWA electrotechnical apprentices also received the Kevin Clarke Award. Kevin Clarke, a former CWA electrical apprentice, was sadly killed in a car accident in 1984. His parents, John and Janet, recognise two electrical apprentices each year in his honour.

The winners from the apprenticeship awards will now be further judged and whittled down to three lucky finalists who will then be invited to the college’s annual student awards, which take place in June, where one will be named overall Apprentice of the Year.
