CWA’s Sports Campus is entering its 10th year at Alive Lynnsport and offers courses in wide range of areas, from sports science to coaching and fitness and apprenticeships, with many of its alumni going on to further study at university, as well as pursuing careers in personal training and fitness, coaching and leadership and leisure centre assistants and managers. It is also home to football, netball and basketball youth academies, offering year-long programmes in addition to academic study.
Notable achievements of CWA’S Sports Campus and its students in the past decade include; Finalist in the AoC Sport College of the Year, achieving Football Association Football Development Centre Status, Lawn Tennis Association East Region Education Provider of the Year, as well as bring recognised for excellence as a School of Basketball by Basketball England.
Abi Page (17), is currently studying at CWA’s Sports campus, completing a Level 3 Sports Science course. She said:
“I chose to study at CWA Sports campus as I didn’t feel like sixth from was suitable for me. At college, they had a range of course options available to me and I knew that I had a passion for sports science and chose this qualification.
I chose to study a qualification in sports science because it would help me to pursue my future career goals within sports therapy conditioning or rehabilitation.
My average college days consists of around three lessons every day. The parts of my course that I have found most interesting during my time at CWA are functional anatomy, learning more about sports injuries and physiology.
My lecturers have also been particularly supportive during my time at CWA and always find time to help you.
The facilities available to students at the Sports Campus are fantastic. We are able to use all of the facilities provided to us at Alive Lynnsport, including the gym.
CWA has given me the grounding to go on to further study at university where I am applying to study sports therapy and rehabilitation.”
