For CWA, the E4S programme has been instrumental in building upon and maintaining links with other European countries. Uniformed and public services course director Lee Mallott said: “The feedback from European colleagues was excellent; they particularly enjoyed the range of speakers who are experts in their respective fields of experience. All participating staff received a signed copy of Dr Tariq Mahmood’s book about radical extremism, which is a very interesting and useful read”.

Security Workshops For European Partners
The college recently put on a series of workshops as part of the Erasmus+ for Security (E4S) programme. E4S is a European scheme, the main aim of which is to develop materials to educate teachers and staff in the security and uniformed services sectors on a range of issues such as immigration and extremism.
There are currently five participating countries: Finland, Holland, Hungary, Ireland and the UK – with CWA being the UK’s representative. Each country holds a five-day syllabus on their particular area of expertise and The College of West Anglia chose to focus its sessions on radicalisation and terrorism, with talks from organisations such as the Norfolk Constabulary.
To coincide with the programme, the college also hosted three Finnish exchange students who are spending six weeks at the college to study for a Level 2 Stewarding qualification. They will be joining uniformed services students for military training.
