CWA catering and hospitality, travel and tourism and business students attended a careers fair, which saw local industry leaders and entrepreneurs discuss a wide range of career opportunities and job roles within the hospitality sector.
Representatives from various local restaurants attended to talk to students about employability options within the industry and job roles. Employer representatives included; The Rathskeller, Eric’s Fish and Chips, Titchwell Manor Hotel, The Ostrich Inn, Briarfields, The Lodge Bar and Hotel and The Bank House, Searles and the Dabbling Duck.
Gavin Wyeth, Operations Manager at Briarfields and The Lodge Hotel and Bar, said:
“We were delighted to be invited to attend the CWA careers morning and found the event to be hugely beneficial, it’s positive to see so many people engaged and keen to either make their first or next step in the hospitality industry. We enjoyed talking to the students and appreciated the opportunity to share knowledge and experience with them. The facilities at the campus are brilliant and we greatly enjoyed the kitchen tour.”
In addition to careers talks, employers interviewed students for prospective positions which have become available since the easing of lockdown.
One student said:
“It was a real eye opener as to what is available out there, I have seen every employer and I am impressed with what they have to offer.”
Another student added:
“I had the confidence to go straight into an interview with one of the employers after the event and I wouldn’t have been able to do that when I first started at college.”
