A local company has stepped forward to support our motor vehicle courses. A.T. Johnson, a long established local tool and hardware company with branches in both Kings Lynn and Downham Market, sees real value in encouraging and helping students with their first steps into the motor vehicle trade.
They are sponsoring the department’s student of the month/ year award, with the winners collecting a prize of high quality tools, provided by A.T. Johnson.
The company is backing the college in providing external, industry-based speakers for the motor vehicle courses and has also volunteered to take students for work experience so that they can gain first-hand knowledge of the parts supply chain, which is necessary in the motor repair and service trade.
Stephen Lowery, head of faculty for technology, said: “This is an exceptionally generous sponsorship from A.T. Johnson and gives an excellent reward for our hard working students. We aim to help all students into employment and this relationship offers huge opportunities for our students on their first steps in their career paths. We are very grateful for the backing from A.T. Johnson.”
Brian Melton, partner at A.T.Johnson said: “We think it’s important to engage with the motor vehicle technicians and garage owners of the future. It’s important that they know what we do to get the right parts and of the right quality to the garage. We have industry contacts with major suppliers such as Mahle, Federal Mogul, Gates and Schaeffler to mention a few, who are willing to give talks to the students and give an insight to where the industry is going in the coming years.
“A.T.Johnson along with some of our major tool suppliers, Sealey, Draper and Teng are happy to award both the student of the month and student of the year award for the motor vehicle department at CWA. As well as this, the student will receive a discount card to use in both of our stores.”
