University Centre West Anglia Veterinary Nursing Graduation
On Saturday 28th January, University Centre West Anglia (UcWA) celebrated the achievements of 59 Veterinary Nursing graduates from 2020 to 2022. The ceremony took place in King’s Lynn Minster, situated in the historic surroundings of the Saturday Market Place in the heart of King's Lynn.
As is tradition, The Mayor of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, with mace bearers, attended the graduation ceremony. Doctor Mark Norrish, Pro Vice Chancellor at Anglia Ruskin University, delivered the keynote speech. Matthew Rendle welcomed the Veterinary Nursing Graduates into the Royal School of Veterinary Surgeons. Kianna Castle, FdSc Veterinary Nursing with Applied Animal Behaviour graduate, delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the student body. Kianna was also the winner of the Outstanding Student Award.
UcWA provides higher education opportunities to approximately 400 students, including degrees, higher apprenticeships and HNC Higher National Certificates. The fact that UcWA can offer such a diverse and excellent quality range of higher education locally is due to the successful partnerships the College of West Anglia has established with Anglia Ruskin University and the University of Huddersfield.
David Pomfret, Principal of College of West Anglia said:
"The last few years continued to be a very challenging time globally, and our higher education students have sacrificed much to achieve success. With the support of their family, friends, and ongoing support from staff, they have overcome many obstacles. Our graduates should be extremely proud of themselves and what they have achieved."
Doctor Stella Chapman, Programme Manager for Veterinary Nursing said: "The Minster in King's Lynn is a wonderful venue for graduation. It was great to see three years' of students from the Veterinary Nursing course at our Cambridge campus able to graduate, and to swear their oath as Registered Veterinary Nurses. The vote of thanks by Kianna Castle was very moving, and it was fitting that Kianna also received the Outstanding Student Award."
