Dog Grooming - Level 3 (Diploma)

This programme is designed to provide you with a sound knowledge and skills of all aspects of dog grooming. You will learn various breed standards and variations, including scissoring, hand stripping and clipping techniques. This course will also include first aid and customer care.

  • Course Description

    The programme content includes:

    • Health and Safety, legislation and code of practise for the grooming industry
    • Preparing, styling and finishing
    • Health checking and handling
    • Customer service and record keeping in a dog grooming environment
  • Entry Requirements

    You will need:

    • Level 2 City & Guilds Dog Grooming Assistants course.

    You will be invited to an interview to help us ensure the course is right for you.

  • Course Length

    Full-time courses at the college are generally 3-4 days per week (you may be in an extra day if you are resitting English and/or Maths). All students are expected to complete study hours in the Learning Resource Centre and at least 30 hours work experience on top of their college hours.

    What qualification will I achieve?

    City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming

    Students aged 16 to 18 who do not already have GCSE qualifications in maths and/or English at grades 4 (C) - 9 (A) will take qualifications in English and/or maths as part of their vocational study programme - this is a government requirement.

    How is my course assessed?

    The assessment for this qualification will require you to achieve in: A written exam which covers the knowledge and understanding within the qualification. A practical assignment which covers health checks first aid and grooming of dogs with different coat types and for different requirements.
