The program is comprised of both on-the-job training and classroom instruction, and is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of groundworks, as well as other essential skills required to work in the construction industry.
The program begins with a foundation of basic knowledge and skills, such as safety protocols, legal regulations, and communication skills. From there, participants will learn the basics of groundworks, including excavation, trenching, shoring, and other techniques. They will learn to use tools and equipment safely and efficiently, determining the best procedures for the job at hand.
As the program progresses, participants will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out a variety of tasks in the construction industry, such as forming and excavating, laying and constructing drainage systems, and paving. They will also gain the ability to read and interpret plans, and understand how to work with other tradespeople.
Throughout the program, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry and its regulations, and will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be awarded a Groundworkers Standard Apprenticeship certification.
