The Bluebird Programme offers our autistic students the opportunity to develop the confidence, communication, life skills and experience required to progress onto further study options at the college, to begin to consider a future in employment or independent living.

Course Description
Our college provides a safe and supportive environment and specialist facilities such as exclusive access to the Haven, a unique quiet space staffed by specialists, ensuring a secure environment throughout the college day.
In addition to mandatory subjects aimed at fostering essential life, academic and vocational skills, you will have the opportunity to select from a range of optional subjects, so you can grow your skill set and knowledge.
You will have the opportunity to work with Course Leaders and a Job Coach to volunteer and to undertake individual work experience, as appropriate.
As part of your course, you will cover the following mandatory subjects:
- Planning & Progression (target setting & discussing your targets & progress)
- Communication & Confidence development
- Personal & Social Development including Citizenship, Well Being & Autism & Me
- Work Related Study (if appropriate including working with a job coach, volunteering, and work experience)
- Life & Independence Skills- Practical Living Skills, Cooking & Healthy Living
- GCSE English and Maths, or Functional Skills at a level that is appropriate level for you.
- Travel & Independence (TITAN Travel Training)
- Well-being Day
In addition to this you will also get to choose from a list of optional subjects to personalise your timetable and learning experience. Optional subjects on this pathway can change each year but some examples are:
- Creative Writing
- Enterprise
- Out & About/Community Access
- Performance/music
- Haven Social Events/Clubs
- Sport & Leisure
