Inclusive LearningSchool Leaver / 16 - 18 yr Old Adults Vocational Courses
This course is designed for young people whom may struggle with a mainstream environment, but are keen to progress with their education in a specialised provision for young people with emotional, behavioural and social difficulties. The course enables learners to continue to develop independence, personal and social skills.
The types of topics the curriculum includes are: digital photography, drawing and painting,, art and design, food service and preparation and employability skills.
Class sizes are small and support is available both in and outside of sessions, as appropriate. The programme also offers the opportunity to work towards independent/semi-independent travel. All learners are also given the opportunity to participate in an enterprise initiative.
Whilst there are no formal entry requirements, students are required to show willingness to learn, participate in and develop skills in a college environment. Following an interview it is expected that the learner attend a taster session to determine suitability for the course and to ensure that their needs are met.
All of our foundation courses are 3 days a week and are a year long.
* Certain courses may have additional costs to cover trips or DBS checks, and for some courses you will be expected to purchase additional items such as uniform or equipment.
Though this course is free for those aged 16-18, there may be additional fees related to the programme, such as additional equipment or uniform, trips, DBS checks and work placement costs. Further information will be sent to all applicants before enrolment.

Depending on your age, course, educational history and personal circumstances, there may be options available for you to receive a course fully-funded by the government. Our fee calculator will help give you an idea on whether you'll be able to have your course fee waived or covered by an Advanced Learner Loan.
If you are aged 19 - 24 at the start of your course and have an active Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), any course up to and including level 3 will be fully-funded by the government. This means you will not have a course fee to pay and any equipment considered essential to complete your course will be provided by the college.
Students aged 16 to 18 who do not already have GCSE qualifications in maths and/or English at grades 4 (C) - 9 (A*) will take qualifications in English and/or maths as part of their vocational study programme - this is a government requirement.
Assessment is ongoing and consistent throughout the year, this is evident via an initial screening process and then regularly via Learn. Learners are assessed on an individual basis by the tutor and through the verification of completed portfolio units. Learn allows for the learner to log in and view their process and targets so they are always aware of their individual achievement to date. Three progress reviews and regular staff meetings ensure that the assessment and review process continues to map individual progression.
