3 Peaks Tower Challenge

Students at CWA have completed the infamous ‘3 Peaks Challenge’, without even leaving the King’s Lynn campus.
The 3 Peaks Challenge is one of the UK's best known mountain challenge events, which attracts thousands of people each year, it involves climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales. These are Snowdon - 1085m, Scafell Pike - 978m and Ben Nevis - 1344m, a total of 3407m.
Two teams of CWA students from the Uniformed and Public Services courses completed the equivalent of the ‘3 Peaks Challenge’ to raise money for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service Benevolent Fund.
Instead of the mountains, students climbed the 8 floors of the King’s Lynn campus landmark tower block, with each student completing as many ascents and descents as they could in 90 minutes.
A number of students achieved a total climb of 900m each, with two students, Klaudio Hacaj of the Level 2 BTEC Group and Leandro Peirera of the Increased Flexibility 14-16 age group. exceeding 1320m.
The total distance climbed by the students amounted to 15,720m, nearly twice the height of Mount Everest at 8848m.
Uniformed Services Course Director, Patrick Kavanagh said “I am immensely proud of their achievement. They were all so incredibly passionate about using their time and energy to help the charity”.
So far the group have raised £451 for the charity.
