Adam’s Green Fingers Help Get Gardening Gong
Former student Adam Chown, who successfully studied horticulture at CWA, has received high praise as part of the team that won a national landscape award for their work at Kings House Gardens in Thetford.
The British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) awarded the accolade to Country Grounds Maintenance (CGM) as the judges were impressed by the high level of grounds maintenance, attention to detail, introduction of new features and the allocation of Adam as a full-time gardener.
Adam said “If it had not been for the excellent tutoring which I received during my time at The College of West Anglia, I would not have had the horticulture skills or knowledge to achieve such a prestigious gardening award”
The award was presented to CGM representatives at a ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London. This success follows previous accolades in 2012 where CGM scooped two other awards and this is the only BALI award winner from Norfolk.
Tom Tree, Head of Regional Development of CGM was delighted to pick up the company’s third BALI award in three years and said: “We assigned Adam and he is always looking to take the gardens to a new level and be creative.”
The Staniforth Trust, who owns the gardens, released the following statement: “Particular praise should go to Adam Chown whose dedication and hard work is an inspiration in itself. Working alongside the trustees he has produced ‘Jubilee Beds’ and small memorial gardens amongst the immaculately maintained borders bringing pleasure to both locals and tourists who visit the gardens.”
