A bag of crisps, sweets, notebook, pens, advice on subjects and studying. It’s surprising what some students have acquired at the college shop. For many staff and students do not know that college front block shop retail supervisor Gemma Mickleborough has now gained her second Masters degree. She has earned an MSc in organisation and occupational psychology in addition to the British Psychological Society accredited Psychology Masters she obtained the previous year making her a qualified Business Psychologist. It’s been a journey from Lynn and back over recent years for Gemma, from North Wootton. She began at The King’s Lynn Academy, got A level law at an evening class at the College of West Anglia and then it was off to university where she studied for her business degree. Then she then joined HMV ultimately becoming a senior store manager for both the Oxford Street stores of music giant HMV, a position she held until 2010, before she joined our college in 2011. While she has left London life behind Gemma managed to save much of the bonuses she earned at HMV to fund her Masters degrees and career change And even she has no plans immediate for the future, Gemma enjoys meeting students in the college shop. She said: “It is good to talk to business and HE students and offer study tips to others. Most of the students do not know that I have two Masters degrees.”
