Degree students employed in Germany
Four computing degree students currently studying at the College of West Anglia have been employed by major companies in Bonn, Germany as part of the college’s European study program.
Max Fletcher (21) and James Waudby (23) have been employed by the Bundesamt fur Naturschutz (Federal agency for Nature Conservation) in Bonn, while their peers Adam Gill (21) and Stephen Wynette (20) are with Deutsche Telekom, (German Telecom) Bonn.
Supported by European funds under the Leonardo ‘Life long learning’ program, the students will spend 4 weeks gaining valuable work experience as part of their study course. This is underpinned by an active culture and language program that will give the students a realistic and valuable insight to employability and life styles in one of our European partner countries.
CWA is currently involved in an extensive and expanding student exchange program, providing students the opportunity to enrich their studies with training placements at one of the many European partners associated with the college. There is also an active reciprocal hosting arrangement whereby students from other European colleges integrate and receive training at CWA.
“The number of students applying to carry out part of their study training at one of our EU partner colleges has constantly increased. Location Opportunities for our students to study in Europe range from Norway and Lithuania to Italy and Malta. The numbers of students visiting us at CWA from our various partners has also expanded to such a point that we are now actively seeking further Host families," said Tom Griffiths, the college's EU coordinator.
The students are due to return at the end of September... just as a group of over 30 students arrive on a project week from France, Turkey, Poland and Italy.
