Newly Elected Student Governors
The constitution of the Governing Body allows for two Student Governors to be elected by the Students of the College.
Following the recent election for student governors we are pleased to announce that Lee-Jay Scott , Extended Diploma in Business level 3 at King’s Lynn and Ashlea Cunningham, Diploma Nail Technology level 2 at King’s Lynn have been elected as Student governors.
Both will now sit on the board of governors giving voice to students and to enhance the student experience of the college from the moment they set foot on any of the college’s three campuses.
Lee-Jay Scott is a first year student and has great ambition to be the voice of CWA’s students-
“I am eager to learn what the future plans the Principal has for us as students and I hope I can be an influence in these plans. I never shy from a challenge set to me, and will not turn down any objective set, either from a student wanting their voice to be heard or from doing what the board require of me.”
Ashley Cunningham has a long experience as a CWA student and wants to use this to help her fellow students-
“I have now been a part of CWA for 3 years as a student and a class representative for 2 of them, so I now feel I know the needs of you all as students, also being a mature student I feel I can be a great voice for all the students”
The role of Governor is an important one with the Board having responsibility for the educational character and financial viability of the College. The Board meets 5 times a year and has 2 planning half days where there is an opportunity to reflect on significant strategic issues.
The Student Governor is an equal governor to the rest of those on the board, but has a unique contribution to make.
