Reena becomes regional representative for NCS
Reena Black has successfully been chosen as a Regional Youth leader for the National Citizen Service (NCS).
Reena, 16, from King’s Lynn, is a performing arts student who has been a part of the NCS since summer 2015 and was recently a mentor for the February 2016 intake. She is the only representative in the area for NCS.
NCS is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity open to all 16 and 17 year olds in England, that helps young people build skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges and meeting new friends. CWA is responsible for delivering NCS in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire and has now delivered opportunities for over a 1000 young people to make a difference and deliver projects that will improve lives of those in their communities.
Ella Fuller, graduate coordinator for NCS at CWA, put Reena forward for the Regional Youth Board after she successfully graduated from the programme and demonstrated enthusiasm for the role and expressed a keen interest in developing further skills and opportunities.
Reena said: “I was quite excited when I got the email as it gives me a chance to be more involved with NCS at a strategic level. I recently attended my first meeting in Cambridge where the team and I planned another social action project to help the community in King’s Lynn. This was coordinated alongside various other NCS projects taking place around the country.
“This is a great opportunity for me and also for other NCS graduates to continue our work with NCS. I would definitely recommend joining NCS to anyone who is thinking of doing it; it can really change your life and allow you to meet new friends at the same time”
Ella Fuller said: “Reena is a very hardworking girl who exceeds expectations of most 16 year olds. I am always impressed with her work for NCS and we are absolutely delighted for her in the new role. Reena is just one example of graduates continuing on their NCS journey into leadership and mentor roles that give them more advanced skills that adds to their CV for employer’s or University.”
