SCL Interiors Providing Job Opportunities to College Students
The College of West (CWA) is working with SCL Interiors, based in Downham Market, to provide career opportunities for construction students.
SCL Interiors was founded nearly forty years ago and provides a range of services including suspended ceilings, fire control, internal partitioning and wall linings.
As the business expanded they approached the college to see if they could offer job opportunities to construction students.
Contracts Manager, Andrew Golding said: “The college has produced a number of enthusiastic trainees who have demonstrated an interest in the construction industry. They are conscious of employer expectations and are ready to venture into the world of full-time paid work”.
In 2014 the business provided opportunities to 8 students, who hope to gain full-time employment, after successfully employing 3 students in 2013.
“In our experience the students who have studied at CWA are ready for work and have the skills employers are looking for” added Mr Golding.
Alan Seeley, Programme Manager for Technology at CWA, said: “It’s beneficial for our students to talk to local businesses such as SCL Interiors and gain real work experience.”
The college is actively working with over 600 local businesses and currently has over 1000 apprentices in training across several sectors.
