Uniformed Services Charity event in Support of the Fire and Rescue Services
On Monday 15th December 2014, 70 Uniformed Public Service students at Wisbech Campus completed possibly the largest and toughest Triathlon event by running, swimming and cycling from Marble Arch in London to the Arch De Triumph located in Paris and then returned to London.
The event was completed using facilities in the Hudson Centre in Wisbech and without the help of manager Dan Bryan, Sam Fabella and his helpful staff, it wouldn’t have happened.
The students completed a total distance of 576 miles in 5 hours. The amount of sponsorship collected by the students came to a total of £530.00, which needless to say all the staff and students are extremely proud about.
The money is to be donated to the charity supporting the Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Services. Encouraging the students on this task was the support of Chief Petty Officers Louse Isaacs and Richy Gray from the Armed Forces Career Office Peterborough, and returning student who is now serving in the full time ranks of the British Army, Royal Signaller Jordan Thatcher.
Most importantly of all the staff and students wish to sincerely thank the brave men and women from the Wisbech Fire and Rescue Service for giving up their valuable time to attend the event and offer their moral support to the event.
Adrian Kent, a staff member said “All the staff and students engaged this mammoth event showed a true display of determination that is in keeping with the service ethos and what we try and instil in the students. Every member of the team put in maximum effort to achieve this task and we the staff, feel extremely proud of the students efforts”
