Hospitality Team Member - Apprenticeship - Level 2

Specialist areas in hospitality include food and beverage service, serving alcoholic beverages, barista, food preparation, housekeeping, concierge and guest services, reception, reservations and conference and banqueting.

The most important part of the role is developing fantastic hospitality skills and knowledge such as recognising customer needs, knowing how to match them to the products and services of the business and working as part of a team to ensure that every customer, whether they are eating in a restaurant, drinking cocktails in a bar, ordering room service in a hotel or attending a business conference feels welcomed and looked after.

What you will learn

You will choose one specialist function from the following:

• Food and Beverage Service,
• Alcoholic Beverage Service, (choosing from one of the following 3 options Wine Service, Beer/Cask Ale or Cocktail/Mixology)
• Food Production
• Housekeeping
• Reception
• Conference and Events operation
• Barista
• Concierge and Guest Services

Functional skills Maths and English at level 1. In addition, you will study towards and take exams for Maths and English at Level 2 prior to End Point Assessment.

You will need:

• GCSE grade 3 or above in English and maths
• A suitable employer who is available to start you as an apprentice

You must have the following introductory knowledge:

• Understand what hospitality means; the culture of the industry and delivering a customer experience to meet and exceed customers expectations.
• Appreciate the importance of hospitality behaviours such as personal conduct, being adaptable, using initiative and communicating with a diverse range of people

You will be interviewed and assessed to identify your potential, commitment and motivation to achieve the Apprenticeship, based upon the range and level of activities you will be undertaking in the workplace. You may need to undergo an initial assessment of your English and maths to show your ability to undertake study towards level 1 English and maths.

How is my course assessed?

You will be assessed to the Apprenticeship Standard using four complementary assessment methods to take a view of their overall performance in their job. The End Assessment Process will consist of:

• On demand multiple choice test
• Practical observation
• Business project
• Professional discussion

The End Point Assessment process will be carried out by an independent and impartial Assessor.
