The course is hands-on and supportive; designed to help you grow professionally and make a real difference in peoples lives.
What will I cover on this course?
During the award, you'll cover these three mandatory units:
- Role of a mentor:
Explore what it means to be a mentor, including the purpose, types, and benefits of mentoring. You'll learn about setting boundaries, managing mentoring relationships, and understanding the importance of support structures and record-keeping.
- Preparing for the role of a mentor:
Develop the key skills needed to be an effective mentor, such as communication, active listening, and giving feedback. This unit also covers ethical and legal considerations, risk awareness, and how to reflect on your own development.
- Demonstrating mentoring skills and techniques:
Put your skills into practice by planning and delivering a mentoring session. You'll be observed by an assessor and will reflect on the session to create an action plan for your ongoing growth as a mentor.
